Oh no, it's fine. Toushiro's on break and spending the time putting in even more practice for his Japanese and other hobbies. It'd been a little lonely, ironically.
[ So she's not that busy. Is what she's saying. She does still have her part-time, but... well. This week is weird for that anyway and now there's a dome. ]
I've mostly just been keeping myself occupied with work, myself. I imagined it would be good to do something other than that for a while, at any rate, and I do owe you a discussion besides.
To say nothing of just preferring your company sometimes.
But all the same she stretches as they get into the kitchen. The alcohol and soda and ice cream are of course all in the fridge or freezer so she busies herself with getting them out and hums . ]
No, I agree that normalcy is a good thing, though. Even if without the sun it seems we're going to be denied that too.
I confess, I might in some ways benefit from having someone in the house who does write this off as normal.
[ It's... look, she has to see the bright sides of it, the longer this goes on, the more she's told shit like his soul it out of alignment because he's off the network. She had to write that into the guide and it about killed her. ]
[He knows better than to try to argue anything about that; that seems like the exact opposite of anything she's going to want to hear, and this conversation is already going to be unpleasant, most likely.]
[ Don't think she's ignorant of it, she's more or less trying to convince herself. She exhales and gets out the alcohol to pour a base into two glasses here for their first float ]
[...That has absolutely not been preventing him from wearing his own damn sunglasses, but yes.]
It's going to take some getting used to on my end, but I can't say I mind it all that much, all things considered. We'll see how much it gets to the city's head eventually, I suppose - hopefully it won't seem too claustrophobic.
[I mean, worst-case scenario as far as he knows is "the city straight-up collapses or otherwise blinks out of existence, like the other attempts at this," but that's...mmngh.]
[ I'm not sure she knows in that much detail about the other attempts tbh but. ]
Anyway, anyway, we're getting off topic and this topic isn't that much more pleasant. Unless you want to help me work out my guide a little more, speculation about all of this probably doesn't help anyone.
[...Yeah, they kind of found maps in August and the entire group kind of...decided to not be team players about it until it's relevant, oops.]
Of course. Is there somewhere in particular you would like to begin, otherwise...?
[Because Uroboros as a topic is kind of...broad, and he's not entirely sure he knows everything about it even now, so it's likely best to ask first before trying to take a shot in the dark working out what's relevant.]
[Naturally, we start with Excella. Okay, let's...]
Yes. From what I can tell, Uroboros is a virus that induces rapid, grotesque mutations in its host; once these changes take hold, any organic matter that comes in contact with the mutated appendages and outgrowths will be absorbed into it, encouraging a massive and immediate increase in size and destructive capacity.
Excella's particular mutation occurred within rather close proximity to a large number of corpses on the deck of that ship. The results that garnered were...well, you saw them.

[Dear god, don't let Jaeger see them, he'll probably find them cute.]
I would ask why, but I'm sure the answer is "Retrospec doesn't believe in subtlety."

[ Yes, thirty.
... Shrug.
Let's come in and go to the kitchen. ]

Thank you for agreeing to this on such short notice, by the way; it's good of you.

If anything, that's more of a reason to keep up some semblance of it.

Easy to stay somewhat grounded.

At least I can see better than most people.

["Inconvenient" is such an understatement, but you know what, it's not altogether wrong, either.]

[Like. Apparently we are just going to shut a bunch of pissed-off monsters in here with us, if that's the case.]
no subject
[ Not that they can, you know, count on that... ]
I guess the worse case would be that the wall cracks down above us?

That's horrifying on so many levels.
