It is a very odd one, to be sure.

[ She answers politely, but... yeah, it's kinda stupid. Always has been. She figured the orphanage gave it to him or something, because it seemed too coincidental to be real. She takes her own seat, taking a scone on the armrest, but also pouring some tea for the both of them. ]

I made it up when I was eight. I didn't remember my name, and it was around Christmas.

[So Elda's mostly on the right track.]

But that's the thing. I don't remember my name. I couldn't have told anyone that if I wanted to. So what's the name on that app?

[ Oh. Oh. Her eyes widen a little bit and she - He face becomes a little bit dangerous. For the twofold reason of she wants to wring the neck of whoever was the cause of putting Silver - not her boy, not her boy - in that predicament in the first place, and the second because that makes Jim's shenanigans and app even more insidious. She makes for a sip of her tea, mostly to catch her own tone, but... ]

That's one more inexplicable thing about it.

[ Her phone on the table buzzes.

It's sending her a picture of her back, which given the chair means is the back of the chair and then Silver's face ]

[...Silver catches enough of a glimpse at it to get the idea. He pulls his hood further over his head; it's entirely too warm to be wearing a hoodie, but it makes him feel better about himself.]

Fucking Jim, right?

[That's not at all something polite to say in front of Elda, but something tells him that she's not going to mind that much, at least not this time.]

Language. [ She scolds him, with no venom in it.

She takes a bite of her scone, looking over at the boy. ]

Where are you going?

Somewhere. I haven't decided yet.

[He plays with his backpack straps. This is none of Elda's business, but he can't really find it in him to mess around right now.]

Ideally somewhere where I won't get sent pictures of my back, but that's wishful thinking.

But he can't, not really. He wouldn't feel safe here. All three of them would have photos taken of them, at the very least. ]

I do hope you will be safe. Running without a plan won't help matters.

[Running without a plan is what he's best at, after all. Regardless, he pauses for a moment, then holds out his hand.]

[ She can't help it, she doesn't trust him completely. She isn't her son. She picks up her phone from the table, but ehe also - ]

You'll see. It's nothing bad.

[What's the worst he can do? Chuck it across the room and hope Elda doesn't have to deal with the app? ...Maybe he should do that instead, but if Elda makes him replace it... Nah, nevermind.]

[ What is the worst he can do? She sighs, and passes it off to him. She then pulls her hand back to herself, feeling... cold. oddly cold. She takes a long sip from her tea ]

[He takes Elda's phone! He quickly taps in his number and saves himself to her contacts. Without any further explanation, he hands the phone back to her and finally sips on the tea she made.]

[ when she gets it back, she blinks down at the screen. She looks at the phone and... Ah...

She swallows, not wanting to betray what that means for her. Instead, she puts her phone back on sleep and sets it down again. She goes back to her tea and... ]

At the least, you weren't currently being fostered, right?

Nope. I'm in the orphanage until I graduate.

[He's eighteen now. He doesn't have to say what happens next. It should be obvious, and yet-]

I'm finally gonna be able to get a cat.

[...Well, there's that, too.]

[ And once he graduates... he would be better off going to the college. He won't though. She should talk him into it--

What is she doing? Today is not the day for this. She exhales hard, and she shakes her head ]

You'll have to finally stop unloading them on me.

[ speaking of, two different cats are sort of slinking around the area, and one of them hops up to get silver's attention. ]

[Silver is more than eager to pet the cat. That's the most normal thing he's dealt with all damn day. Hell, if he can get away with it, he's putting said cat directly in his lap.]

Don't worry, I'll keep bring them around. You take good care of them.

[They're certainly better company than he is.]

[ That particular (black) cat is one of the more agreeable ones, it's content to have its place of honor on his lap. As long as it gets something out of it which the warmth and pets are good for.

She grins. ]

But if it's your cat, it'll be your responsibility.

[...Oh jeez, this isn't going to turn into a lecture, is it?]

How hard can it be? Cats are easy to take care of.

They are, but you do need to make sure that they're taken the vet, fed, and have a litter box. Not to mention keeping that box sanitary. [ A tut, and she takes a sip ] And stimulation! We're in a city, an outdoor cat would put themselves in danger here.

[He dismissively waves a hand.]

I know, I know. I'm not a...

[Complete... idiot... He pauses for a moment and doesn't quite seem to be looking at Elda as he does so, then he rigorously shakes his head and holds a hand up to it.

If you care about a Pokémon, it doesn't hurt to let it see that you do.

For a brief moment, he's not in a chair sipping on tea and talking to Elda, but rather high up in the air at some unfinished building, with a giant bird by his side and looking at some guy in a cape with the strangest hair he's ever seen. It's a brief few sentences, and before he knows it, Elda's in front of him, and...]

...Sorry, what were we talking about?

[ . . . What was that?

What was that.

Elda sets down her tea and... ]

Silver, what was that?

[...He doesn't want to talk to Elda about it. At the same time, this isn't just about him anymore, is it? That could have been one of those hallucinomemories that Dave was talking about, and it could happen to Elda, too. Damn.

He pulls out a notebook and a pencil and tries to sketch out what he saw.]

There was some guy and a bird. I think it was my bird? It was wearing a hat.

[ Why would a bird wear a hat? She leans in though, over the coffee table so she can better see what he's starting to sketch. After all, this might well be important... and.

And this confirms these hallucinations do exist. Unless Silver's lying to her again. ]

It looked more like a crow.

[He's sketching out the guy he saw first; he doesn't remember much of his face other than his weird eyes and his ridiculous hair, and it was pretty dark, but he's pretty sure the guy was wearing a cape... He's quick to move onto the bird, which... It's pretty much exactly as Silver says. A crow with weirdly intense huge eyes and a witch's hat. He puts a stick figure next to it for a size reference.

It's entirely possible that Silver is lying, but at the same time, Silver looks genuinely confused and serious enough that that's probably not the case. He's not a very good liar.]

[ A crow. A crow in a hat...? A huge crow in a hat? Who's ever heard of a thing like that? That's not that similar to a chocobo--

Oh right, those aren't normal, either.

She sighs, and scoots over a bit, standing so that she can look over the picture and ]
