[ as tempting as it is to play around with the machines and create the "person of his dreams" in those strange glass cases downstairs, naegi finds himself exploring the other floors instead. he has learnt during his one-year stay with the app that he should try to uncover as much as he can with whatever little time he has so he finds himself in a strange hallway filled with even more glass cases but these ones, unlike the ones on the first floor, aren't empty. they contain people unknown to him and he gets a strange twisted feeling in his stomach. this looks like a scene right out of a horror movie and he can't help but feel deeply unsettled by all this. however, he manages to not lose his cool as he walks down the hall. ]

[ ... at least until he spots a certain somebody in one of the cases. ]

Ah-- Ahhh--!

[ with a yell, he suddenly stumbles backwards in shock, inadvertently bumping into elda. normally, he would immediately apologize for the bump but he seems to be in a state of shock. he's staring at the glass and the girl that it contains with mild horror. sayaka maizono, dressed in the same school uniform that she wore in his memories, is "asleep" limply inside the case. she looks... so real and naegi can't believe his eyes. he stands there, frozen in place, his mind at a blank. just what is going on?? ]

[ There's a small bit of irony in it being Sayaka-

anyway no, Elda jumps at that? She'd been coming down here on much the same logic, even if she had been feeling a little bit famished here towards the end of the month. She laughs it off a little and come to investigate, ignoring the whole idea of the machines above (as much as she did want to mess with them) and go further.

And- ] What's up, boyo?!

[ even as elda addresses him, naegi still can't find himself tearing his eyes away from the glass case. he's stuck and still frozen in place. ]

I-- I know this person.

[ it takes him a second to realize that maybe he should be a little more specific and so he adds: ]

Not from here, I mean, but from my memories.

[ -! That's important and, ]

Wait, really?

[ she slides in closer to the case now, making to brush past Naegi. ]

Yeah. This is my first time seeing them in-person.

[ when she pushes past him, that finally gets him to actually move, snapping out of it. he hesitantly approaches as well. ]

She looks exactly like she does in my memories... nothing about her changed.

[ which is strange because nearly everyone has a different look than the person in their memories. at the very least, the hair colour should be something more... realistic, rather than a shade of blue. ]

[ The girl has blue hair... So she's probably as perfectly similar? Elda puts her hand up against the glass, as if testing the strength of it. She's tempted to just punch it open, honest? But she doesn't, not just yet. ]

... Truly? I wonder if there might be others-

[ oh my god, if she punches it open, naegi will Flip but that would be wonderful. ]

There might be... we can go check around?

Maybe. Should we let her out though?

[ she looks asleep, right? Not dead? Probably? ]

Ah, yeah, we should.

[ that's probably a good idea... he has this strange uneasy feeling in his stomach but it's not like they can just leave her in there, right? he moves closer to the case to examine it, placing his hands on the glass as he looks around it. ]

I don't see a button or any way to open it...

This is just glass, right? We could try breaking it.

[ Tap, tap ]

But won't that hurt her? We'd be breaking the glass towards her...

[ . . . Point.

... ] Not that bad, probably.

[ """probably"""............... ]

... is there no other way we can get her out?

[ he already knows that the answer is no but... ]

I could try glass cutting? If you have some tool for it?

[ She doesn't, for sure. ... She does have longer fingernails these days but that's a whole other thing. ]

[ he goes through his pockets, trying to see what he has. all he pulls out is... his keys. ]

I only have my keys...

[ he's assuming that these won't work at all ]

I have a nail file and my keys, so I'm not much better.

[ As she examines her purse. ... Mm ]

[ ......... ]

... okay, let's try breaking the glass but really carefully...

You got it!

[ and so she's ...! Going to take a fist back with her hand, wrapping that first up a little bit in a kerchief from her purse. And with her eyes going wide and cat-like? she makes to swing a punch in and connect with the glass! To try to break it! ]

[ the glass surprisingly shatters with very little resistance...! just a single punch is enough to have the entire case collapse into tiny little shards. a strange smoke releases from the case and maizono falls limply to the ground. naegi doesn't run over to her right away, though that's mostly because elda is probably blocking his way ]

A-Are you all right?

[ She steps aside to allow Naegi to get through to check on her but... she just sort of slumped there. ... Is she - she's not dead, is she? God, she hopes she didn't cause a problem with that. The small woman shakes out her hand a little bit, and then is surprised - no cuts. The glass shards seem to almost me dissolving.

... Mmm. ]

[ once naegi sees that elda doesn't have any cuts and that she's relatively all right, he steps forward to now check up on maizono. he reaches out to try and pick her up from the ground but as soon as he touches her shoulder, he immediately pulls back like he just touched fire. he stares in disbelief at her for a second, something like a knife plunging into his stomach and twisting, and with a shaky breath, he reaches over once more. however, he doesn't go for her shoulder. rather, he places his two forefingers against maizono's neck, under her jawline, and-- ]

I-- I don't feel a pulse--

[ So here's the thing: Elda actually has most of a nursing degree finished from back when she was young. So at that she bullies into the moment here to check the pulse herself, try to elevate the blue haired girl's head, and generally start to listen for breath ]

Seriously?!

[ naegi moves over to the side to let elda get to maizono, though he's clearly... rattled, back to the frozen state that he was when he first saw her ]

What-- What should we do--?

[ is there even anything they can do? if she's been dead for this long in the case... ]

[ She's not breathing and more to the point the body isn't particularly warm - at least not from internal body heat. This body has been dead for a while. How? There's no signs of it suffocating that she can see. Heart failure? Does it have any injuries or whatever?

How is she...? So young? ]
