[ he's seen way too many of his classmates on that damn app. it's...kind of worrisome, admittedly. ]

The first day, I spoke with some girl who is on the app, but her mother is not. And her mother thought that she was bing delusional when she tried to explain her difficulties.

[ And so she's alone.

She's infuriated her son is in on this, but if he must be, it's good that she is as well. ]

...Why wouldn't her mother be included, though?

[ strange. you'd think there'd be some sort of family ties to this sort of thing, but... he sighs in aggravation, like someone too old and worn for his age. ]

I'd like to say the selection process was random, but...how would that explain the both of us getting on the app? The chances of that happening are incredibly slim.

I've not thought that far ahead.

[ Exhale. ]

But it's true, that would be unlikely when there's only two hundred or so testers.

he shouldn't be worried about this. he's only a teenager. but with them watching his every move...it's unnerving. he can't just pretend this doesn't exist.

it's clear he's disgruntled and sort of stressed out, now. ]

[ she means for this to reassuring, but the whole mood still isn't great. ]

[ ah. that's actually a really sweet thing for her to say. he's not surprised, though. she's overprotective in general. still... ]

But I am flattering you're growing into such a worthwhile young man.

So? Age is just a number.

[ he truly does care about elda very much, though, and will protect her with his life if he has to. the woman who took him in and loved him when nobody else would--he owes her that much. ]

Don't you ever use that an excuse to bring up a date twice your age! I realize you've been influenced, but still!
