[Elegantly penned on a white envelope is your name, and inside of it is an invitation! Trimmed with ribbon and gold lace, it's obviously a pretty fancy affair.
Sorey has written something inside, printed neatly.]
Elda,
If you need any help with outfits or transportation, let me or Mikleo know.
[ You know, it doesn't say to RSVP but she is a proper lady so she's going to write one anyway? Namely, she writes in return, ]
Sorey,
You don't need to worry about me, it would be my pleasure to come and I can work out my own outfit and transportation. Unless theres any colors that I need to avoid, in which case just tell me beforehand. Consider this my RSVP.
[Elda gets a bathroom selfie of Soleil standing in front of the mirror with a big dumb grin on her face. She is only in a pair of boxers and a sports bra looking as shredded as always, but ignore that and focus on the fact her hair is a pastel pink instead of her usual black.]
I caught it, yes. It felt like cheating to read through it all so I didn't though.
[ Well that and she was preparing for the one two punch of Thanksgiving and then Ninja Warrior over the last two days and she's still like in surreal world about winning Ninja Warrior. ]
[It's been an interesting several days, but he's thankfully bat and general festivities free, at least for now. That's why he's here, of course- Elda's place has lights, sure, but he can't possibly imagine it being as aggressively festive as everywhere else.
Which is probably his fault, really, and honestly the real thing that's bothering him is that something else is going to be his fault this month, but that's all the more reason to actually come to Elda's place- he's going to have to call her mom eventually, isn't he, is he really going to be able to-
He knocks twice. Peeks the door open.]
Hey Elda, I'd like it if you paid attention to me for a few hours.
[...She said he could come here and say as much. That wasn't what he intended to do, but it's certainly what ends up coming out of his mouth anyway, and there's nothing to do but act natural from there on out. Yeah, like he can pull natural out of any of this...]
... You know what's actually flattering to her and she in no way wants to examine why that feels flattering to her. Toushiro's actually out at some practice or another right now, and in fact wanted to go there with a friend. Elda was a little disappointed but it's fine and it was the day between her two dates and... she's off from her job and-
... Look the point is that she was basically just looking at her hair and trying to decide if she needs to cut it when Silver peeked in and she's scurrying down the stairs to let him in ]
[She manages to find Elda's address which...isn't hard, considering the size of the damn place, and sends a courier along to deliver a present addressed to Elda herself.
Inside the box is a pair of contact lenses that are designed to keep the sun at bay, like sunglasses.
But if they aren't something she'd wear, then there's a second gift in the form of a strap that can easily snap onto any pair of glasses to keep them around your neck. Hopefully next time they fly off for whatever reason, at least she won't lose them the way she did last time.
The tag attached simply reads:]
Thanks.
-A.
[Who could Mysterious Gift Sender A be...oh well.]
[Wesker usually doesn't text Elda very much, outside of contacting her over the network posts here and there; he doesn't really text at all, honestly - probably to be expected, given how staunchly he refused to be involved in social media at all before Retrospec just kind of voluntold him into it.
But just the same, here he is at some point today; hi, Elda.]
Would it be possible for us to meet up at some point...? I owe you a discussion regarding Uroboros, I believe, but even outside of that I have something that I would appreciate discussing with someone.
It isn't a particularly pleasant topic of conversation, I'll warn you of that much now; neither of them are. If you're disinterested for the time being I understand, what with the recent upheavals.
[...The dome, he is referring to the fucking dome.]
Albert if the world was ending, I'd still have an interest in hearing you out.
[ And honestly... maybe the world is ending. That ayano girl has gone pretty doomsayer on the last two network things, and she perhaps can't help but be pulled into that narrative. It's probably with that in mind that she fires off the first response before even thinking about it, filled with her usual assurances of support and bravado.
The more rational response comes a minute or so later once she weighs it a bit more. ]
Honestly though, yes, I'd been wanting to hear about that Uroboros thing. And I'll hear out anything as I said before. Let's meet up tonight - I can see perfectly whenever, of course, but you might see better with streetlights.
It's a simple video lasting for about two minutes and has that crappy quality of CCTV videos everywhere. There's a little date and time counter on the one corner reading 'May 01 2017' with the clock ticking along from 12:02 to 12:04. It starts from the nearby streetlights, focusing on traffic, then zooming up to look at where the Retrospec building is suppose to be and showing nothing. No building. No anything to show that a building is there. Then it fizzes out. ]
[A text comes to you in the late afternoon of February 3rd. The sender's name has been encrypted and errors out and there are no signs of who the message belongs to. Clicking on the profile of this Retrospec user brings up a picture of the Retrospec symbol.]
How would you like to help us help you out? Your observation period's up and I want you on this particular assignment. You'll be fine, you're probably not going to die, and we'll be able to monitor you from here. We need help. You've got the skills needed even if you don't know it yet. I know it and that's what counts.
You'll be working with a group (wish I could give you the names, still putting the lists together), but your assignment partner is Gintaro Suzukaze. Should you choose to accept this assignment, you will need to meet at the Recollé Zoo and Aquarium and we'll go from there.
You'll be rewarded for your success, of course, but this is only if we have an agreement. Do we have an agreement?
[No other messages will be sent from this account at this time.]
[ooc: Hello! You've been sorted into group 4. Your event log will go up at 9pm EST along with all of the other logs. We encourage you to read the main event log as well for more information about your recruiter and this note. In the meantime, head over to this thread on the latest mod post and meet your teammates. Thank you!]
But no, actually, she shows up on Elda's doorstep (because she knows she'll be spending time with her son) and rings the doorbell. Waits patiently. Presents a "Welcome Home" cake to her the moment she opens the door. (She got it just for her.) ]
[ She is here with Toushiro, the minute the boy was back from school sweeping him into a hug and then insisting that they hang out. He's actually sulking off away from her at the moment as she gets the door and- ]
Oh! Elizabeth! Hey!
[ . . . Oh damn is that? She reaches out to get the cake with a surprised smile. ]
[ look, someone's ringing the doorbell to the marker manor. (hint: it's john.)
it's delivery time, apparently, and this would only be slightly funny if she wasn't home, considering he hadn't... checked in on that. he stands at the doorstep holding a small brown bag, otherwise looking pretty plain considering the last few weeks.
well. if she's not, he supposes he'll just leave it there. ]
... Honestly she's surprised when she looks out the peephole of the door and then just puts her shades on so as to not have the sunlight (ah, will you look at that, the Dome's really gone, isn't it) bother eyes she opens the door and, ]
Hey there.
[ Her nails (painted red) still have the distinct smell of the new coat being recently applied. ]
[Near the end of the month, most of the sky has been filled in, though there are still uncolored patches that break through the nighttime like beams of sunlight through clouds. It makes for an odd experience, a reminder that the world is fragile – but life goes on and everyone’s picked up on their old normalcy.
So there’s no excuse for teenagers to be wandering around this time of night ike Sakura is, shuffling oddly on her feet like she’s always seconds away from toppling. Winding her way down the empty sidewalk, she pays no heed to her surroundings, brushing past street lamps painted in every color –
And occasionally dipping close to the street. It’s late, so there aren’t many cars, but she sure is flirting with death tonight.]
Elda is often out at night these days. Coming down from that hill that her house now rests on, coming down to Viea Village's main streets, sometimes going downtown for some reason or another... And tonight, well, tonight she's going on a bit of a run around the city. In jogging clothes, she does go out and about until-
That's someone close to the street? Looking drunk. Poor girl. She narrows her eyes and- isn't that...?
[Yuu is out for a walk. Or, well, more of a jog really. He expects to find some others out and about for a bit at least, in knowing he is not the only one that probably gets up earlier some mornings to try get in some exercise before it gets too hot later on in the day.
He's not necessarily anticipating running into Elda, though he is around the area this morning. But he does, and he blinks before giving her a wave as he approaches. Recognizing that particular coloured hair. Not immediately noticing that something might be wrong just yet.]
[ To be fair, what goes wrong happens pretty immediately and pretty dramatically. She was out with her parasol she'd be at for a while now, still in the line of shadows from the trees at the base of the hill her house rests at the top of. That said, when she steps out from there, the clothing and parasol blow a little bit in the early summer breeze and her forearm is exposed to the direct sunlight.
... And starts to burn.
She yelps in pain and ends up dropping the parasol as it starts to erupt in some small flames. Weelllll ?!? ]
[ as tempting as it is to play around with the machines and create the "person of his dreams" in those strange glass cases downstairs, naegi finds himself exploring the other floors instead. he has learnt during his one-year stay with the app that he should try to uncover as much as he can with whatever little time he has so he finds himself in a strange hallway filled with even more glass cases but these ones, unlike the ones on the first floor, aren't empty. they contain people unknown to him and he gets a strange twisted feeling in his stomach. this looks like a scene right out of a horror movie and he can't help but feel deeply unsettled by all this. however, he manages to not lose his cool as he walks down the hall. ]
[ ... at least until he spots a certain somebody in one of the cases. ]
Ah-- Ahhh--!
[ with a yell, he suddenly stumbles backwards in shock, inadvertently bumping into elda. normally, he would immediately apologize for the bump but he seems to be in a state of shock. he's staring at the glass and the girl that it contains with mild horror. sayaka maizono, dressed in the same school uniform that she wore in his memories, is "asleep" limply inside the case. she looks... so real and naegi can't believe his eyes. he stands there, frozen in place, his mind at a blank. just what is going on?? ]
[ There's a small bit of irony in it being Sayaka-
anyway no, Elda jumps at that? She'd been coming down here on much the same logic, even if she had been feeling a little bit famished here towards the end of the month. She laughs it off a little and come to investigate, ignoring the whole idea of the machines above (as much as she did want to mess with them) and go further.
[ It would appear Matt is keeping one of those plush toys won in a game at the Rainbowland carnival. He's sitting on a bench and taking a breather from all the chaos and confusion with his cane folded in one hand and the toy sitting next to him on the bench, respectfully posed head up and facing outward so it is properly seated there. ]
there's a man she knows? She doesn't think much of the man being there, going to wave right up until she remembers, oh, right, he wouldn't see that. She weighs if she wanted to get into a chat or not, sort of shrugs it off and glides over to him with silent footsteps.
